Nature of Work
The
fundamental reason this position exists is to perform intermediate level
electrical tasks on City owned properties. The incumbent will be responsible
for installating coaxial cables, conduit pipes and/or tubing, and electrical
boxes; performing diagnostics, repairs,
replacements or installations and testing of a variety of lighting and
electrical systems in city buildings and facilities; supervising, training,
assigning duties and providing guidance to lower level Electricians and
semi-skilled workers on the use of basic hand tools and power tools; assisting
in the installation, maintenance and repair of ballfield lighting, electrical
systems and equipment using a bucket truck and safety equipment; and performing
departmental administrative duties using the telephone, calculator, and forms. The
Electrician II receives supervision from the Mechanical Trades Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
High School
Diploma or G.E.D. and three (3) years of experience in installing, maintaining,
and repairing electrical systems.
NOTE: Qualifying education,
training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities
to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
Must possess
a valid Alabama driver’s license. Some positions in this classification may
require possession of a valid Alabama Commercial Driver’s License (Class A) to
drive a bucket truck. Ability to work
nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to perform electrical related tasks in
the case of special events and emergencies. Ability to be on-call as needed to
respond to electrical related emergencies.
