The
fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform skilled plumbing
work in planning, installing, repairing, and maintaining water and waste
systems in City of Montgomery facilities. The work responsibilities are: troubleshoots
and repairs plumbing and fixtures; supervises and trains subordinate personnel;
plans and installs new plumbing; and replaces/installs new plumbing
fixtures. Employees in this class are
responsible for laying out work details, assigning duties and inspecting the
work of a small work crew; the work crew may consist of any combination of
Plumber Is and/or IIs. Assignments are
made by written or oral instructions.
Supervision is received from the Mechanical Trades Supervisor.
Five
(5) years’ experience in installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing systems
to include at least one (1) year of experience in supervising skilled and
unskilled workers on plumbing projects.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Must
possess and maintain a valid Alabama
driver's license. Must be willing to
work nights, weekends and holidays and be on call 24 hours as needed.
Working Conditions: Incumbents must work outside for long periods
of time as well as in small confined spaces, on unstable ground, in high areas
or deep underground spaces.
