The fundamental reason this
classification exists is to serve as a lead worker to other ITS Electronic
Technicians while also performing advanced, highly skilled technical work in
the installation, repair, and maintenance of the City of Montgomery’s
electronic traffic control devices and their operation systems. Work
requires a broad range of electronics technical knowledge and is performed with
considerable independence of judgment. Primary work responsibilities may
include: performing field supervisory duties; performing the duties of the ITS Manager
during absences; monitoring traffic from the Traffic Management Center (TMC); installing and programming
electronic traffic control devices and supporting equipment; responding to
service requests and calls; and performing diagnostic checks and repairs to
electronic traffic control devices, fiber optic cables, and supporting equipment. The ITS Technician II is distinguished from
the ITS Technician I in that the ITS Technician II serves as the lead worker
onsite and typically performs more complex technical duties. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Intelligent
Transportation Systems (ITS) Manager.
