The fundamental reason that this
classification exists is to oversee the development and administration of
programs at the Juliette Hampton Morgan
Memorial Library at Questplex which in turn is used for implementation
throughout the Montgomery City-County Library system. The major work responsibilities for the
position include developing short and long term plans for the branch;
supervising a staff; managing the branch and its physical resources; assessing,
monitoring, and evaluating the needs of existing and potential patrons, and
performing a variety of other related management duties. The incumbent is
responsible for a wide variety of functions requiring knowledge of policies and
their application to unusual situations.
The incumbent makes decisions to develop procedures to solve problems,
uses independent judgment, and exercises discretion in interpreting policies. The incumbent is responsible for all branch
staff and the branch’s overall operations.
The position is directly supervised by the Library Director and
Assistant Library Director.
Master’s degree in librarianship from a
college or university accredited by the American Library Association which
includes coursework related to information technology and digital libraries and
four (4) years of experience managing a library branch which includes the
supervision of professional librarians, or a combination of education and
experience. Digital library experience
is preferred.

abilities to perform the job will be considered.
