Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to act as a liaison between the City of Montgomery and the Central Alabama Sports Commission. The Community Sports Coordinator will promote community sports events and partnership opportunities while attracting, developing, and facilitating sports events and sports related conventions in Montgomery. The Community Sports Coordinator is responsible for engaging constituents and community groups throughout the state of Alabama while ensuring Montgomery is a destination for amateur, youth and recreational sports. The employee reports to the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with major course work in physical education, sports management, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience in the field of sports administration or sports management.

 

NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Work on holidays, nights, and weekends may be required.  Additionally, overtime may be required for special events
