The fundamental reason this
classification exists is to develop and conduct computer training classes in a
computer/resource lab for special populations.
Examples of special populations include individuals with hearing and
visual impairments, mentally and physically challenged and individuals with
acquired disabilities such as strokes and brain injuries. Assists users in troubleshooting hardware and
software problems. Performs other
functions related to the computer/resource lab including updating periodicals,
brochures, and media resources for individuals with disabilities. The work responsibilities are: develops and
conducts computer training classes in a classroom setting and on an individual
basis; assesses the needs of participants and plans programs for individuals with disabilities;
maintains software and troubleshoots minor problems with equipment; contributes
to the department objectives by accepting additional assignments and performing
other duties; and conducts research for adaptive equipment for individuals with
disabilities and their family members.
Employee in this classification reports to the Assistant Therapeutic
Recreation Center Director.
Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic
Recreation or a related field and one (1) year of experience working with
computers to include installation,
support, or use of personal computers, with assistive
computer technology for persons with disabilities or a combination of education
and experience which
provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
