The
fundamental reason this position exists is to perform administrative work in
planning, organizing, directing, supervising, and coordinating a well-rounded
recreation program for disabled persons.
The work responsibilities of the position are: plans, schedules,
supervises and coordinates the scheduling of all programs for disabled persons;
supervises staff and volunteers; coordinates the orientation of all new
participants; contributes to the department objectives; assists the Therapeutic
Recreation Center Director in preparing and administering the operating budget;
and coordinates, plans, and supervises volunteer and internship programs. Supervision is received from the Therapeutic
Recreation Director.
Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation
or a Bachelor’s degree in an allied health professional field of study
(Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology or Science, Speech
Pathology, Music or Art Therapy, Special Education, or Adaptive Physical
Education) and one (1) year of related supervisory experience
obtained within the past five (5) years OR a combination of education and
experience. Preference will be given to
those applicants who are Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialists
(C.T.R.S.) and/or have supervisory experience in a therapeutic recreational
facility or setting.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Must possess
a Commercial Driver’s License (C.D.L.) or the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s
License within six (6) months after acquiring this position.
