The
fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform lead security work
at the museum, including protecting property, visitors, and employees while
enforcing the security rules and regulations. The work responsibilities include
patrolling buildings, structures, and grounds; utilizing surveillance equipment
to observe staff, patrons, and/or other visitors; investigating and taking
appropriate action when alarms are activated or unusual situations occur;
completing and submitting work orders; and interacting with patrons, visitors,
and staff members. The employee is the shift lead for two of three shifts
and works under the direction of the Museum's Chief Security Officer.
High
school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience in security work,
protecting persons and property.
NOTE: Qualifying
education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills
and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
SPECIAL
REQUIREMENTS: Must have and maintain a
valid driver’s license and insurable driving record in order to drive city
vehicles. Must submit to a background
check due to the nature of the position.
Must obtain an Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board ‘Responsible
Vendor’ certification and be CPR/ADE certified within six months of employment.
Work requires rotating shift work, nights,
weekends, special events, and holidays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to walk, stand, and remain alert
for the duration of the assigned shift as needed to perform security duties and
patrol assigned areas. Must
be able to climb stairs and a ladder at a height of 14 feet as needed to
perform inspections of both the interior and the exterior of the facility. Must be willing to work outside as needed to perform
security duties.
