The fundamental reason
this position exists is
to protect property, visitors, employees, the Montgomery Zoo animal collection,
and provide enforcement of security rules and regulations. The work responsibilities of this position
are: provide general security of the zoo grounds, interact and provide customer
service to patrons, staff, and zoo visitors; investigate and take action on
alarms sounded and unusual situations, observes and assist with animal care
including feeding, cleaning and general husbandry of the live animal
collections of the zoo. Due to the nature of work, this position is very labor
intensive. The Zoo Security Officer receives direct supervision from the Zoo Security
Supervisor.
High School diploma or G.E.D. and six months
experience in security work, protecting persons and property.
Work will consist of nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid
Alabama driver’s license and insurable driving record to drive city vehicles within
sixty days of employment. Must submit to
a background check due to the nature of the position.
