The
fundamental reason this classification exist is to maintain order in the
Municipal Court, to include restraining or arresting disruptive individuals as
required. Employees in this position
also perform specialized clerical duties of a legal nature, including the
maintenance of inmate and court records, and data entry work. The primary work
responsibilities of this class are: supervises employees; places courtroom in
proper order for court sessions; maintains order in the courtroom; performs
clerical and administrative duties; and monitors the flow of City Jail inmates.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Municipal Court Administrator.
High School
Diploma or G.E.D and five (5) years of law enforcement experience, including
two (2) years supervisory experience. A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice
or a closely related field may substitute for required experience on a
year-for-year basis. Must have and maintain current certification as a Law
Enforcement Officer in the State of Alabama and meet all minimum
requirements established by the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training
Commission.

education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills
and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
