The fundamental reason this classification exists is to provide leadership in analyzing, identifying, and comparing latent finger, foot, and palm prints. Work is performed under the supervision of a sworn police officer typically at the rank of Sergeant or Lieutenant. This position is assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division in the Montgomery Police Department or the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Bachelor’s degree in social or natural science or a related field of study, and at least two years of experience examining latent prints. Current certification as a Latent print examiner by the International Association for Identification is preferred. Experience may substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
