The fundamental reason this
classification exists is to perform intermediate-level professional appraisal
duties. Appraiser II incumbents are responsible
for appraising all types of real estate and personal property in order to
determine the values for ad valorem tax purposes. The primary work responsibilities may include:
collecting relevant data on various
types of real estate and property through research and field inspections;
performing real estate and property analysis and appraisals; and assisting taxpayers,
tax representatives, and other appraisers with questions relative to values and
determination of property values. The
Appraiser II is distinguished from the Appraiser I by increased appraisal
responsibilities and the exercise of more independent judgment regarding
appraisals. The Appraiser II is
distinguished from the Appraiser III in that the Appraiser III incumbents may
assign projects and provide professional and technical guidance to the subordinate
Appraisers. Supervision is provided by the
Chief Appraiser.
