The fundamental reason this
classification exists is to perform technical and administrative work related
to real and business personal property appraisals and tax collection. The work responsibilities are: researches and
documents information for real property appraisals; researches and documents
information for business personal property appraisals; and provides customer
service to taxpayers, real estate and tax professionals, attorneys, government
representatives, the public, and co-workers.
Employees in this classification primarily perform duties in either real
property appraisal section or business personal property appraisal section but
may be cross trained and utilized in both sections. Dependent upon the area of assignment, the
Appraisal Technician classification receives supervision from the Personal
Property Auditor or Appraiser IIIs.
High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience in real estate title/abstract research, real and business personal property appraisals, and/or real and business personal property audits.

Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered
Must successfully complete both the Alabama Appraisal Manual Residential and Alabama Appraisal Manual Commercial courses within one year of employment.
