The
fundamental reason this classification exists is to prepare and maintain maps
and related records for property assessment purposes. Employees in this class
perform the majority of the division’s cadastral mapping work, to include the more
difficult and complex mapping projects.
The work responsibilities are creating and maintaining cadastral maps; performing
Mapping Division administrative duties; and assisting the public, government
agencies, surveyors, real estate professionals, attorneys, and co-workers in
researching parcel data and answering questions relating to real property
ownership and assessment. The Mapper
classification is distinguished from the Mapping Technician classification in
that the Mapper performs highly technical mapping work. The Mapper operates with a wide range of
independent judgment under the general direction of the Mapping Coordinator.
