The fundamental reasons that this job exists is to provide monitoring and compliance review for all Montgomery County Youth Detention Facility (MCYF) procedures and regulations. The work responsibilities of this position include developing and monitoring facility policies and procedures, investigating and resolving complaints, liaison work between the facility and the court and legal systems, and helping ensure the safety of staff and youth offenders. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring all accreditation requirements are met and for developing methods designed to ensure the youth facility complies with standards. This position has the authority to require detention staff to comply with all accreditation standards. This position reports to the MC Youth Detention Facility Assistant Director.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration or a closely related field and five (5) years of general juvenile corrections experience. Juvenile corrections supervisory experience is preferred.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays and willing to be on-call to respond to emergency incidents as needed. Must possess or be able to attain a valid Alabama Driver’s license within 60 days and have an acceptable driving record.
