The fundamental reason this position exists is to provide organizational leadership and direction for the County Parks and Recreation Department. The essential functions of the position include the following: planning, organizing, and directing the County’s Parks and Recreation functions; researching, developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and priorities; evaluating services; developing short and long range plans; managing the issuance of service contracts; preparing and maintaining a budget; managing and supervising employees; developing relationships and serving as liaison; managing special projects; and conferring with management. The position reports directly to the Deputy County Administrator who holds the incumbent responsible for the effective and efficient operation of all departmental programs.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration or closely related field. Must have five (5) years of Parks and Recreation high level managerial and supervisory experience to include policy and procedure administration. Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
