The Assistant Chief provides
management and supervisory oversight in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating
manpower, supervising personnel, performing administrative duties, monitoring
legal compliance, establishing, and maintaining policies and procedures,
maintaining law enforcement expertise, interacting with the public and other
agencies, and assisting with the operational budget. Work is performed under general supervision
and is evaluated by observation and by review of records and reports by the Sheriff
and the Chief Deputy.
Bachelor’s degree in criminal
justice, public administration, or closely related field and four (4) years of
supervisory/management law enforcement experience including at least two (2) years of experience at the rank of Deputy
Sheriff Captain or above in a jurisdiction comparable to or larger than
Montgomery County.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training, and
experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to
perform the job will be considered
