The Detention
Facility Director provides administrative leadership to the Montgomery County
Detention Facility and oversees the daily operations of the facility. The responsibilities of this position include
developing and monitoring facility policies and procedures; directly
supervising a Detention Facility Assistant Director; indirectly supervising
Captains, Lieutenants, Sergeants, Officers and civilians; overseeing facility
operations, investigating and resolving complaints; preparing and monitoring
the facility’s budget, acting as a liaison between the inmates and the officers
and between the facility and the court and legal systems; and helping ensure
the safety of staff and inmates . The
Director receives minimal supervision in the form of work product review. Assignments are made by the Sheriff and the
Chief Deputy in the form of concepts or ideas.
The incumbent is responsible for devising methods and practices and for
the administration of the final concept or idea. Errors in judgment on the part of the
incumbent could result in lawsuit and/or loss of safety and/or life by
personnel and inmates.
Bachelor’s
degree in criminal justice or public administration or a closely related field
and five (5) years of correctional supervisory/management experience including
at least two (2) years at the level of Detention Facility Assistant Director in
an institution comparable to or larger than the Montgomery County Detention
Facility in size and comparable to the inmate population with respect to age
and severity of offense.
