he fundamental reason this classification exists is to participate in and supervise custodial tasks performed in public buildings. Employees in this class supervise service maintenance workers in the performance of general cleaning and custodial work to ensure that the assigned buildings are properly cleaned and floors are maintained within acceptable standards. The essential functions of this class are: supervises and schedules two or more employees performing custodial activities; conducts periodic inspections of buildings to review overall appearance of building and the work of staff; instructs the work of service maintenance workers; coordinates office furniture and equipment moves and participates, as needed, in the moves and contributes  to the department objectives by assisting coworkers, accepting additional assignments and performing related tasks.  Employee supervises a foreman and service maintenance workers. General supervision is received from the Custodial Maintenance Manager or the Director of Support Services. 

High school diploma or G.E.D equivalence.  Two years of experience in custodial work in a large building complex including one year experience as a supervisor; or an equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
