Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this classification
exists is to participate in and lead service maintenance workers performing
custodial tasks in public buildings on an assigned shift. Employees in this class participate in
custodial maintenance work, and lead service maintenance workers in the
performance of general cleaning and custodial work to ensure that the assigned
buildings are properly cleaned and floors are maintained within acceptable
standards. The essential functions of this class are: participates in and
instructs the work of a custodial crew; coordinates and assigns custodial activities to service maintenance
workers; conducts periodic inspections of buildings; coordinates and
participates in special assignments.
General supervision is received from the Custodial Maintenance Supervisor
or the Custodial Maintenance Manager who reviews the work by personal
inspection and conferences with the employee.
Minimum Qualifications
High
school diploma or G.E.D equivalence. Two
(2) years of experience in custodial work of large public buildings to include
six (6) months of experience as a lead worker.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
Individuals must be physically capable of
operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an insurable
driving record. May require working the
evening shift.
