Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to perform interior and exterior paint tasks on commercial buildings and structures for the City and County of Montgomery. The essential functions of the position are: evaluates paint needs and prepares to paint surfaces; applies finishes such as paint to surfaces; maintains all equipment, tools, and work areas; in the absence of the paint supervisor, supervises personnel; and performs administrative related duties. The Painter receives supervision from the Paint Crew Foreman and Painter II.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years’ experience performing skilled painting tasks or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Note: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license as needed to operate a motor vehicle to perform painting tasks at various locations with the City and County of Montgomery. Ability to work flexible hours, evenings, nights and weekends as needed to complete projects. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
