Nature of Work

This is an advanced-level executive support position performing a full range of general and specialized clerical procedures with differentiation from lower clerical levels in providing direct support in a variety of administrative functions and may supervise lower level clerical employees.  Work procedures are similar in nature to the Senior Administrative Assistant level such as managing major functions such as payroll, budget preparation and control, purchasing supplies and equipment, personnel actions, various report and document generation, and/or managing record keeping and filing systems but work is differentiated due to the position supporting the highest officials requiring extensive office protocols.  Work in this class is non-routine and cyclical in nature. Work requires full knowledge of office administration, protocols and supervisory skill.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have three (3) years of advanced administrative experience which demonstrates full knowledge of organizational functions such as payroll, budgeting, personnel action forms, purchasing and supporting upper-level management. A technical certification in Office Administration or closely related area may substitute for one year of experience.  Advanced training in office administrative or closely related area is preferred at this level.

NOTE: Two (2) years’ experience as a Sr. Administrative Assistant will qualify for this position.

NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Kind of Examination

If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
