Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to enforce revenue and/or license laws and regulations. Work involves inspecting business premises in an assigned geographical location for verifications and violations. Work will include examination and verification of revenue and/or license receipts from businesses operating in Montgomery. Work also involves the use of tact and judgment so that public cooperation will be assured. Independent judgment is exercised within the limits of prescribed policies and procedures. For the City, work is performed under the immediate supervision of the Revenue Compliance Officer and/or Revenue Manager of the Department of Finance. For the County, work is performed under the supervision of the Revenue Compliance Officer and/or Assistant Revenue Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of delinquent account collection work. Revenue/tax collections experience is preferred.  

NOTE:  Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must have and maintain a valid Alabama Driver’s License and an insurable driving record in order to drive City and/or personal vehicles.  Must be available to work flexible hours which includes nights, days, holidays and weekends.  After employment, county examiners are required to receive the training necessary to earn the professional designation of Certified Revenue Officer (CRO) and must maintain this certification through annual training.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in the field involving travel to and visits to local business locations which may require working in inclement weather, visiting construction sites, climbing stairs, walking over rough terrain, minimal lifting of boxed documents and/or laptop and printer, etc. Travel outside of Montgomery County and/or the State of Alabama may occur at times. Travel before or after normal business hours may occur.

Kind of Examination
