Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations**
Three (3) years of experience within the past five (5) years as an automotive mechanic with at least one (1) year as an independent lead mechanic OR a diploma/certificate in automotive mechanics and one year of experience as an independent lead mechanic.
Must have and maintain a valid Alabama driver’s license and an insurable driving record in order to drive city vehicles. Must be able to attend specialized training out of town as needed to maintain or increase skills. Must be willing to respond to the Garage in order to make repairs to automotive vehicles after normal working hours and be willing to be on call 24 hours during emergency situations or when deemed necessary by the director or his designated representative.
