Purpose

The Systems Integration-Project Leader provides advanced level project management and information systems expertise, managing and guiding teams of Department of Public Works (DPW) employees who are subject matter experts (SMEs) in business processes that flow through the Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) to design and document workflows within the technical confines of the Workday ERP.

Essential Functions

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Build teams of SMEs to work with developers, the implementation team, and trainers.
  • Manage and guide SME teams in documenting work processes and fitting work processes into the framework of the Workday ERP.
  • Manage the timelines of DPW’s system design, development, implementation, and training.

ASSETWORKS INTEGRATION

  • Liaise between DPW staff, AssetWorks staff, the Department of Administration-Information and Technology Management Division (ITMD), the Accenture Project Management team, the Workday implementation team, and Workday to ensure successful integration of AssetWorks with the new system and that DPW field and administrative business processes take maximum advantage of the ERP.
  • Represent DPW in meetings and technical discovery and development sessions with the aforementioned teams.
  • Work through technical problems with systems that interface with the ERP such as DPW apps, AssetWorks, and Accela.
  • Work with inventory staff across DPW to create and document inventory related workflows in accordance with the ERP.
  • Work with Fleet management to create and document repair activity workflows in accordance with the ERP.
  • Work with DPW leadership and staff to implement AssetWorks in DPW departments that are not currently using it, such as Milwaukee Water Works, Infrastructure, Sewers, and Buildings and Bridges.

PROJECT DOCUMENTATION

  • Use project management tools to create and maintain charts, reports, and other documentation to track project progress, deadlines, staff responsibilities, and other related functions to keep DPW SME teams on task.
  • Act as the keeper of records for DPW for all project documentation, including workflow design, implementation, technical documentation, data, media, training materials, and other documents associated with the ERP.

COMMUNICATION

  • Directly report to DPW leadership regarding project progress, potential problems for DPW, and recommendations on how to best use the system.
  • Lead communication efforts to keep DPW staff apprised of project progress and implications.
  • Liaise between DPW leadership, DPW staff, the implementation team, system developers, AssetWorks staff, the project Executive Committee, ITMD, and other City stakeholders.
  • Represent DPW’s interests in meetings with ITMD, developers, vendors, and other City departments regarding the project.

Conditions of Employment

The Systems Integration-Project Leader must be willing and able to do the following:

Minimum Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in information systems management, computer science, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  2. Five years of experience in project management or implementation of an enterprise-wide application comparable to the size and scope of the City of Milwaukee’s ERP.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Workday Pro Integrations accreditation.
  • Project management certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP)® or Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB).

Current Salary

The current salary range (Pay Range 2OX) is $106,771-$127,413 annually, and the resident incentive salary for City of Milwaukee residents is $109,974-$131,235 annually. Appointment above the minimum is possible based upon level of experience and other qualifications and is subject to approval.

Selection Process

THE SELECTION PROCESS will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: an evaluation of education, experience and/or responses to supplemental questions; a written or performance test, a structured interview, or other assessment methods. The Department of Employee Relations reserves the right to call only the most qualified candidates to structured interviews and performance examinations.
