Under direction, assists the Risk Manager in the administration of the District’s risk management database, and the preparation and analysis of data to support the District’s risk management programs and processes.

• Serves as Administrator for the risk management information system (RMIS); assists in the development of the design and functionality of the user interface and forms/reporting; monitors data quality; provides technical support and training to other users, as needed.
• Assists in the preparation of annual underwriting submissions for risk financing/insurance programs.
• Assists in the periodic analyses of budgetary spending trends and actions; assists in the development of projections for claims cost and payment patterns for use in reserving, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Assembles data, manually and with the aid of computer software, for the development and preparation of managerial reports.
• Provides support for the Return-to-Work Program; communicates changes in employee work status; prepares various Temporary Total Disability and Restricted Duty reports; enrolls employees in eLearning and monitors usage.
• Performs basic bookkeeping activities such as reconciling invoices, processing payments, and initiating purchase requisitions, as required.
• Assists in preparing board letters, claims settlement contracts, and purchasing documents, as required.
• Prepares correspondence for various District personnel and departments.
• May assign, supervise and review the work of subordinate administrative support staff.
• Participates in and represents the department on ad hoc committees.
• Participates in the design, update and preparation of forms, instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Maintains personnel, financial, and budgetary records.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Work is performed in a typical office environment and requires the use of standard office equipment including computers.
• Knowledge of risk management information systems.
• Some knowledge of the concepts and practices of risk management.
• Some knowledge of statistical methods.
• Ability to assess the accuracy and validity of financial data.
• Ability to compile, analyze and summarize financial data.
• Ability to collect, monitor and record risk management data and produce reports.
• Ability to assign and supervise the work of subordinate administrative staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university majoring in risk management, finance, accounting, business administration, public administration or a related field and one year of experience in risk management activities.
Additional risk management experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
