Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

Under general supervision, performs work on difficult architectural plans and details and checks plans against specifications.

• Makes field investigations and reports on conditions of site, buildings and furnishings.
• Maintains the Architectural Products and Building Materials library and Engineering Standards manual.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical office environment.  May use standard office equipment and computer terminals.

• Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of architecture.
• Considerable knowledge of State and local construction practices, rules and regulations.
• Considerable knowledge of construction materials, the various trades and their jurisdictional boundaries.
• Considerable knowledge of recent developments, current literature and sources of information in architecture.
• Ability to review architectural drawings with accompanying explanatory comments.
• Ability to prepare architectural drawings and make feasibility studies for building and renovation projects.
• Ability to plan and supervise the work of others in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale.

Graduation from an accredited five year college or university majoring in architecture or architectural engineering plus a minimum of two years of experience in the field of architecture; or graduation from a four year college or university with major course work in engineering, supplemented by three years of experience in the field of architecture.

Registration as an Architect in the State of Illinois and two years of experience in the field of architecture may be substituted for the foregoing requirements.
