Under general supervision, performs professional structural engineering work of unusual difficulty. As Assistant Head of Structural Design Section, supervises the design and making of detailed plans, estimates and specifications for the erection and alteration of steel, timber, concrete and reinforced concrete structures.

Registration as a Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois.
Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university majoring in civil or structural engineering and six years of full-time, post-degree structural engineering experience. Four years of this experience must have been in work related to the District's activities and one year of experience must have been in the supervision of degreed engineers.
Full-time graduate study in structural engineering may be substituted for the required non-supervisory experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years.
