Introduction


This Classification is considered exempt and is not subject to the Civil Service Examination process.

This position is open to all candidates, both internal and external, who meet the minimum requirements.

Residency Requirement: There is no residency requirement to submit an application; however, all District employees must be domiciled within the boundaries of the District within six months of successful completion of probation. (The District is in Cook County, Illinois, covering approximately 90% of the county area.)

Probationary Period: The probationary period for this classification is one year (250 days worked).

Application Submission Information


Duties: Under general and limited direction, assists as second in charge of the M & R Department. Provides oversight and management of the day-to-day administrative business flow of the M & R Department. Partners with the Assistant Directors to coordinate and manage high-priority projects and initiatives that require interdivisional cooperation and collaboration.

Minimum Qualification Requirements: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university majoring in engineering or in the chemical or biological sciences; and twelve years of engineering or scientific experience at the professional level of which at least six years must have been in work related to the District's activities. Six years of this experience must have been in an administrative capacity with responsibility for major engineering or scientific projects, including technical and budgetary accountability. Substitution: Graduate study in engineering or in the chemical or biological sciences may be substituted for the non-specialized experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years.
