Position location: Oklahoma School for the Deaf - Edmond, OK - Campus of the University of Central Oklahoma

Essential Functions:
Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing needed to teach in the OSD Edmond Regional Pre-School classroom on the Campus of the University of Central Oklahoma.

Teach deaf and hard of hearing students ages three to six. Plan/instruct and share with staff, including Speech/Language Pathologist, Audiologist and graduate assistants.

Coordinate a parent/infant/toddler class that is a cooperative effort between the pre-school program, the university, and Sooner Start, Oklahoma’s early intervention program.

Coordinate services with parents, related professionals, state agencies and staff. Provide in-services for parents, staff and speech/language pathology students. Record student progress in curriculum and IEP goals and communicating that progress with parents and school districts.

Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing children.

Knowledge of various communication options for children who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Knowledge and effective use of hearing aids, cochlear implants, BAHA’s and FM.

Ability to use sign language to support language development.

Skills to develop communication and language skills in individual children who are deaf or hard of hearing in their communications modality.

Preferred Skills, Education and Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education of the Deaf, State of Oklahoma Teacher’s Certificate or qualifications to meet certification. Prefer Master’s Degree.  

Salary:  Annual salary is commensurate with education and years of experience; Bachelor’s degree: $33,180.00 to $44,441.00.
Master’s degree:  $34,440.00 to $46,147.00.

Employees are provided paid health, dental, life and retirement benefits as well as an option to participate in the State’s tax-deferred annuity program. 

This will be a 180-day per year, contracted position.
