IS Applications Specialist, 0970
Location: Disability Determination Division - OKC
Under general supervision, designs system modifications, document systems structural changes and program changes and completes installation of new or modified programs. Position performs a full range of computer programming and system analysis work. Duties include planning, establishing and maintaining connectivity between IWS/LAN and remote computer systems; diagnosis of hardware and software to isolate problems and correct them; providing user assistance and training; conferring with users and managers to identify data processing needs and developing solutions; providing daily system backup and administration for IWS/LAN and IBM AS400 and assisting IT manager in developing and updating necessary EDP applications and documentation. Preference may be given to applicants with demonstrated experience in the use of I Levy Software, AS400 networking and interface with SSA systems with specific emphasis in the infrastructure of EDCS, EView, Document Management Architecture and Front end Capture Systems.
Must be willing to perform all job related travel.
Individuals selected for positions with OKDRS/Disability Determination Division (DDD) will go through a complete federal background investigation. A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems.
The Department of Rehabilitation Services will conduct a criminal background check on new hires as part of an offer of employment that is made contingent upon a successful criminal background check.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Completion of twenty-four hours of computer science or management information systems course work at an accredited college or university or a comparable vocational or technical education course resulting in certification in computer programming or a bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in computer programming or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of experience in systems operations or data production control functions for twelve hours only of the required education. Plus three (3 )additional years of experience in applications programming and analysis work.
