Position location: Oklahoma School for the Deaf- Sulphur

Essential Functions

This position reports directly to the Superintendent, and provides positive proactive leadership in the implementation and monitoring of services designed to serve students in residence Sunday evening through Thursday afternoon, mid-August through June 1st. The position is involved in developing student programs for appropriate psycho-social growth and development/dormitory/independent living skills; social/recreation education. This position supervises/coordinates student home going transportation services.

Preferred Skills, Education and Experience: 
Three years of experience in classroom teaching/instruction or educational administration or an equivalent combination of education/experience, substituting a Pd.D in the above areas for one year of required experience. Minimum of Master’s degree in education, special education, educational administration or psychology; an Oklahoma Teacher’s Certificate or qualifications to meet certification.

Preference may be given to applicants with expressive and receptive sign language skills; knowledge of Deaf culture.

Salary: 
Salary is commensurate with education and years of experience: $4,000.00 to $6,700.00. Employees are provided paid health, dental, life and retirement benefits as well as an option to participate in the State’s tax-deferred annuity program.

Conclusion

Veteran’s preference points apply only for initial appointment in the classified service.
