Position is located at the Oklahoma Youth Academy Charter School - Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center in Tecumseh OK.

Will provide support to classroom teachers, perform duties that are instructional in nature, and deliver direct services to students. Will take over the teacher's role in the absence of the teacher. Will support the teacher by helping students to perform research tasks, supplying quality instructional support, and teaching of remedial lessons by providing individual support to students.

Provide one-on-one assistance to help students become successful in classroom tasks. Assist students in successfully learning the daily lesson objectives. Being useful to reinforce targeted lesson skills to small or large groups of students.

Planning and assisting the teacher in preparing materials and supplies in advance of activities.

Assist the teacher to implement developmental assessments of each student. Assist the teacher in planning and maintaining a safe, clean environment and managing students during restroom breaks and school assemblies. Helping the teacher in maintaining discipline and supervising students during all activities.

Helping the teacher on a daily basis in entering accurate attendance records into the SIMS computer program. Will exhibit a genuine nurturing, caring attitude to all students.

Prefer candidates with the following experience/education:
High School Diploma from accredited institution or GED certificate and experience working with students. Preferred candidates will have teaching assistance experience with at-risk youth and/or experience in working with at-risk youth.

Special requirements:
Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.

Applicants must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
