This position is located at the Camp Gruber Training Center, Braggs, OK. 

Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the layout, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures and related equipment in a facility.

Essential Functions:
• Journeyman Electrician will install, repair, alter and maintain electrical systems and equipment throughout the installation. Must comply with the current edition of the National Electric Code. 
• Install, repair, trouble shoot and maintain fire alarm systems  consisting of main panel, smoke detectors, heat detectors, remote annunciators and wiring systems.
• Install, repair, troubleshoot and maintain street lights, exterior lighting circuits, pedestal lights, aircraft ramp lighting and remote area lighting systems.
• Selects, orders and checks delivered materials for compliance with specifications; advise superiors regarding electrical matters; oversees and instructs electrical apprentices and manual workers; keeps records and prepares reports.  Works with consultants, engineers and suppliers on designs, trouble shooting system or equipment and system upgrades.
• Maintains and repairs light fixtures, receptacles and switches; replaces light bulbs; maintains distribution panels; oils and cleans motors; troubleshoots and makes electrical repairs; maintains and makes minor repairs to various types of heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, such as components, pumps, fans, humidifiers, electric motors, and heat exchangers.
• Operates various types of equipment used in the process of maintaining & repair of electrical systems, to include but not limited to (man-lifts, forklifts, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment; of the safety precautions necessary in the electrical trade; and of local, state and national electric underwriters code for electrical installation.  Ability is required to perform maintenance and repair of electrical apparatus and to keep records and make reports.

Education and Experience:  Licensure as a Journeyman Electrician with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board

Licenses/Certificates required:  Licensure as a Journeyman Electrician with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board.

Benefits
This is a full-time unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance for the employee. The employee receives a benefit allowance to assist with insurance cost.  Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately.

Physical Requirements: 
• Able to lift/carry a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Able to stand for long periods of time.
• Able to climb ladders and stairs.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

• T1 security clearance and computer access (eligibility for national security positions shall be granted only to persons who are U.S. citizens)

• Licensure as a Journeyman Electrician with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board

This position may require travel in and out of state with overnight stays.  Travel may be required at the expense of the employee to be reimbursed within 45 days of travel.
