This position is located at Camp Gruber training center in Braggs, OK.

Basic Purpose: 
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving fire protection, firefighting, and rescue duties.  This includes training other employees and providing guidance, assistance, and direction to others during firefighting operations or in performing maintenance and other activities. 

Essential Functions:
• Execute the fire training program in accordance with AFI 32-2001, DoD Instruction 6055.06, DoD Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) program. Ensure all firefighters comply with agency’s proficiency training program.
• Ensuring supervisors facilitate certification by providing guidance, access to training materials, instruction, and performance testing required by certification. Training to achieve FES certification is a personal responsibility.
• Training recognizes the importance of continued professional development through education, training and professional affiliations.
• Ensure all FES personnel know and understand that AFCEC/CXF is responsible for approving and investigating effective and cost-efficient methods to provide training.
• Ensure training with all equipment and props meet NFPA standards including NFPA 1403 before being used to train DoD military or civilian firefighters.
• Ensure flammable gas fire training devices must use gasses that meet current NFPA standards
• Ensure flammable liquid training devices will use flammable liquids that meet NFPA standards. Different fuel types will not be mixed nor will multiple fuel types be used in a training event.
• Training must maintain proficiency in various structural scenarios, live fire training will be conducted IAW NFPA 1403. Must coordinate fire training devices for Class A combustibles will use acceptable Class A materials which are pine excelsior, wooden pallets, straw, hay, and other ordinary combustibles. Pressure treated wood, rubber, plastic, and straw or hay treated with pesticides or harmful chemicals will not be used.
• Ensure all training records are kept in an orderly manner current and easily accessible.
• Act as the Chief of the department in his/her absence.
• Other duties as assigned by the Fire Chief.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required at this level include those identified in Level 1 and Level II plus knowledge of training techniques; and of leadership/supervisory principles and practices. 

Ability is required to anticipate, identify and resolve problems; to direct personnel and firefighters in preventing and/or extinguishing fires and preventing accidents; to write reports; to supervise the work of others; and to investigate multiple and complex cases simultaneously

Education and Experience:
Consist of Department of Defense certification or equivalent IFSAC, Pro-Board in the following areas: Fire Officer 2, Fire Officer 3, Fire inspector 1 and Fire Instructor 1, 2 plus (1) one additional year of qualifying experience in fire protection work, including (1) one year of experience at a level equivalent to a training chief

Benefits
This is a full-time unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance for the employee. The employee receives a benefit allowance to assist with insurance cost.  Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately.

Physical Requirements
• Must be able to drag 175lb mannequin at least 50 feet.
• Must be able to work in elevated, confined, and hazardous environments.
• Must be able to function in Personal Protective Equipment for extended periods of time at heavy workloads.
• Must participate in physical fitness program. 
• Must be able to function as part of a crew within extreme temperature environments for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to pass Red card wildland cert. with moderate pack test minimum.

Conditions of Employment
• Employment is in the unclassified service as an employee at will
• Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check
• Contingent on passing a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening
• T3 secret security clearance (eligibility for national security positions shall be granted only to persons who are U.S. citizens)
• Contingent on a favorable medical exam (NFPA 1582 Firefighter physical)
• Available to work if called in due to an emergency
• Considered essential personnel (work during inclement weather)
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license
• Shift work or be in an approved leave status for 212 hours within 28 consecutive days or work the 40 hour workweek
• Tobacco and Vape Free Facility

Location
This position is located at Camp Gruber training center in Braggs, OK.

Travel may be required at the expense of the employee to be reimbursed within 45 days of travel.
