BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION
This position handles the legal work for Oklahoma County Juvenile Unit by ensuring that juvenile genetic testing and child support orders are fully researched and prepared properly and timely. The position reviews and approves the legal work prepared by caseworkers ensuring that the orders presented to the juvenile judges comply with state and federal law, DHS policy and procedure. This position also will assist in the handling of appeals and original court proceedings as they arise for the entire division by providing in-depth legal analysis, research, and writing.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS 
This position will assist the Managing Attorney, (CSA V), in appellate and original court proceedings of the division, either by co-counseling, mentoring, researching, or individual advocacy. This work will include working with the CSS Appeals Committee. Additionally, this position will do legal work for the Oklahoma County Juvenile Court process. Other duties may include assisting the Managing Attorney in building legal partnerships and collaborations, legal resource development, and legal outreach.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA's)
Knowledge of legal principles and their applications; of legal research methods; of the scope of Oklahoma statutory law and the provisions of the Oklahoma Constitution; of the principles of administrative and constitutional law; of trial and administrative hearing procedures; and of the rules of evidence; and skill in performing research, analyzing, appraising and applying legal principles, facts and precedents to legal problems; presenting explanation of legal matters, statements of facts, law and argument clearly and logically in written and oral form; and in drafting legal instruments and documents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in child support and/or family law.

This position may be filled at an Alternate Hiring Level as a Child Support Services Attorney III (beginning salary $4,405.00 monthly), Child Support Services Attorney II (beginning salary $4,067.91 monthly), or as a Child Support Services Attorney I (beginning salary $3,689.25 monthly), dependent on Child Support or Family Law experience and minimum qualifications as per State policy.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATE 
Active membership in the Oklahoma Bar Association is required.  ALL APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE A COPY OF APPLICANT'S CURRENT OBA CARD, A RESUME, AND THREE REFERENCE LETTERS.

NOTES
A conditional offer of employment to final candidate will be contingent upon a favorable background check and a substance abuse screening.
