Parking Lot Sergeant-at-Arms

Under general supervision of the Chief Sergeant-at- Arms or designee, maintains security and safety for the House of Representatives’ members, staff and vehicles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Assures that leadership parking remains available and accessible at all times.  Only by special permission will these spaces be used by other than the leadership.

Remind those parking on a short-term basis of the 15-minutes limit policy.

Monitors all traffic flow and parking assignments.

Develops personal recognition of House personnel.

Establishes and maintains a pleasant, effective working relationship with all people that use the parking lots; courtesy is essential.

Assists public by directly them to proper parking areas.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Knowledge of reading and locating items on maps.  Requires occasional patrolling of the parking lots on foot.  Must be a proven team player and work well with other employees and co-workers.
