Chief Security Officer
Up to $45,000 based on experience

SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Chief Clerk, is responsible for the security and services for the Oklahoma House of Representatives, offices and Chamber.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Attends the House during each day’s session; maintains order under the direction of the Presiding Officer, executes commands of the House; and executes all process issued by the authority thereof.

Oversees the Chamber during the sessions; makes sure Chamber is kept in order and at all times ready for use by the House.

Oversees clearing of the Chamber, lounge, foyer and reception room of all unauthorized person, as defined in Rule 7, fifteen minutes before the House convenes.

Sees that no unauthorized persons enter Chamber, lounge, foyer and reception room while House is in session.

Strictly enforces the rule of no peddling or soliciting, nor advertising matter distributed, in any part of the Capitol Building assigned to the House.

Coordinates with the House Sergeant-At-Arms and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Cleet Qualified with Weapon Certification is required for this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of legislative process and terminology.  Ability to assist in operation of disaster evacuation plan.  Ability to deal with the public in a courteous manner and present information accurately and in a professional manner.  Ability to work effectively with other employees and the general public.  Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, to walk up and down stairs in the performance of the job, to stand for minimum of 30 minutes, and follow verbal instructions from the Chief Clerk.  Ability to enforce House rules, i.e., prohibit smoking, reading of newspapers, hats, food, drink, flash cameras, video cameras, fire arms, demonstrations, and standing in the gallery.
