Traffic Engineering Division - Oklahoma County
This position will serve as the manager of the Traffic Analytics Branch which includes the areas of traffic planning, traffic analysis, and traffic safety. Primary responsibilities will include directing and supervising staff to develop, review, and analyze traffic engineering data, reports, and studies in support of the ODOT 8-year work program, asset preservation program, traffic safety improvement projects, private development projects, and ongoing traffic operational analysis of the state highway system. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Traffic Impact Analysis, Roadway Safety Audits, Traffic Control Warrant Analysis, Speed and Capacity Analysis, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Simulation Modeling, Signal Phasing and Timings, Collision and Safety Analysis, Bike/Ped Safety, Rail Safety, Traffic ITS, and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles.
This position coordinates and works closely with other ODOT central office and field divisions as well as other agencies and entities including the Department of Public Safety, Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, Federal Highway Administration, Oklahoma Traffic Records Council, and local law enforcement. Additional duties include preparing and updating the Strategic Highway Safety Plan, authoring annual traffic and collision reports, representing the division with traffic and safety pool fund and research studies, and educating and promoting highway safety in general.

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibility for overall management of a staff of engineers, technicians and other personnel who are responsible for providing engineering expertise, guidance and technical assistance to state agencies, consultants, and the public. They are differentiated from lower levels in the Professional Engineer job family in that their focus is on broader supervisory and management issues including planning, organizing, and integrating the functions that report to them.
This is the management level where incumbents are typically responsible for the management of an engineering work unit.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of registration as a Professional Engineer and one year of supervisory experience in a professional engineering related field.
