Job Description, essential functions:
This position will be filled at the Researcher I level with the opportunity to progress to higher levels. Eligible candidates should possess entry-level knowledge of research and evaluation practices. Under direction, this position operationalizes a wide variety of complex issues using research design, statistical analysis and interpretation. This position will assist with preparation of findings, conclusions and recommendations for a wide variety of audiences. Guidance will be provided as needed from managers and more experienced researchers but this position is expected to exhibit a high degree of proficiency in problem solving.
Typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, data collection, data entry, conducting literature reviews, data validation and proofing, survey development and analysis. This position will provide support on projects being led by more experienced researchers in the unit.
A conditional offer of employment to final candidate will be contingent upon a favorable background check and a substance abuse screening.

This is a full-time unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance. Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of experimental design; of analytical principles and practices; of managerial functions, methods and techniques; of governmental procedure, organization and operation; and of methods and techniques in presenting findings, conclusions and recommendations in written reports. Skill in analyzing and solving complex and difficult problems of research design and analysis; in presenting technical material in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing, and in the ability to produce descriptive statistics and perform random sampling.
Preferred Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of Bachelor’s degree in political science, psychology, economics, social work, sociology or related field with a minimum of 9 semester hours in research and/or statistics
