Comprehensive Cancer Control Coordinator

OSDH is seeking a full time Program Grant Consultant providing support to Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. This is an unclassified position in state government, located in Oklahoma City.

The annual salary for this position is up to $52,047.00 based on education and experience.

This position has preferred qualifications:
Master's Degree and a minimum of two years’ experience in long-range health planning and/or project management.  As well as two years’ experience coordinating complex federal grants.

Position Description:  
The primary function of the Comprehensive Cancer Coordinator is to address cancer prevention and control issues and levels of interventions by convening stakeholders, assessing epidemiologic data and implementing formal plans to reduce the incidence and burden of cancer in the state and local areas.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
•Planning, organizing and managing the Comprehensive Cancer Control Program activities which include monitoring and analyzing the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) cooperative agreement to assure goals, objectives and work performed are consistent with the Oklahoma State Cancer Plan and the cancer burden statements;

•Collaborating with internal and external partners to develop cancer-related publications, long range plans for cancer and cancer-related issues and evaluation and outcomes of the Oklahoma Chronic Disease Alliance-Cancer Workgroup, strategic plan and the impact of interventions on accomplishing the Oklahoma State Cancer Plan;

•Providing technical assistance, consultation and facilitation with healthcare, business and community-based systems to promote, secure and leverage support for the Oklahoma Chronic Disease Alliance-Cancer Workgroup and implementation of the components of the Oklahoma State Cancer Plan;

•Providing recommendations to the Cancer Prevention and Control Manager on grant related materials such as annual work plans, which contain specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-phased objectives as well as activities and performance measures for each program component along with assisting in preparing and submitting reports to CDC, Oklahoma Legislature and other partners in a timely manner.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Health Promotion, Health Education, Community Health, Kinesiology and Health Studies, Health Behavior or Non-Profit Management or equivalent plus one year of experience in planning, implementing and coordinating community groups, coalitions or alliance of non-profit organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requirements include knowledge of working with coalitions to achieve goals and objectives. Possess good judgment skills needed for planning and accomplishing goals and objectives. Strong intrapersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to bring together key partners and organizations to develop, implement and evaluate a statewide plan and an understanding of public health principles.
