OMES is seeking a full time, unclassified Accountant I. This is an unclassified position in state government.  OMES offers a comprehensive Benefits Packet, including a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents.  For more information about the benefit allowance [click here].The annual salary for this position is up to $36,000 based on education and experience.

Position Summary
The Accountant I primarily provide for payment of OMES accounts payable.

Position Responsibilities
•Prepares claims for Agency. Insures proper approval and prepares claims for supervisor’s signature and processing to conclusion of payment.
•Uploads invoices and manually inputs invoices into the Agency System/ Reviews accounts and works with Agency Finance Officer to ensure accurate records of amounts due are prepared.
•Audit and input travel claims for Agency personnel. Prepares claims for signature and tracks to conclusion of payment of claim to agency personnel.
•File agency claims as they are paid, retrieval of agency claims from filing system for review or future audit work.
•Prepares Division invoices for information and communication services provided to other divisions and agencies.
•Examines vendor invoices, verify obligation, codes to proper expenditure code, obtains approval and forwards for payment.
•Prepares analysis of Divisions financial data and updates the Division’s monthly forecast of expenditures and revenues.
•Independently researches, assembles and summarizes materials, information, and data for division consideration and action.
•Recommend actions for improvements in Division processes and expense control.
•Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience
Associate degree in accounting or a Associate degree in business, finance or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of bookkeeping for each year of the required degree.

Valued Skills and Experience
This position requires a good working knowledge of the State of Oklahoma Accounting system. A complete understanding of the Microsoft Office Suites, technical concepts and principles; and contract terminology is required.
