The Department of Health and Human Services – Animal Care Services is currently hiring for extra help/temporary Kennel Attendant vacancies. This is an outstanding career opportunity to join Placer County Animal Services and contribute to the continued success of this progressive and innovative organization, while working at the new state-of-the-art animal care facility located in Auburn.

Temporary/Extra Help assignments are limited to working 28 hours per week (including weekends and holidays) with a cap of 999 hours or 960 hours for CalPERS retired annuitants in a fiscal year and are not eligible for benefits.
Appointments made from this eligible list may be eligible for transition to permanent status, should vacancies arise.
To feed and care for animals housed by the County in the kennel or cattery; and to maintain facilities in a clean and sanitary condition.
Receives immediate supervision from the Supervising Animal Control Officer, and technical and functional supervision from other animal control staff.

The written examination may include multiple choice, true/false, fill-in, matching, and/or essay type questions directly related to the required knowledge and abilities for this classification.
The written examination is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, May 3rd.
There will not be alternative or make-up exam date(s) scheduled. You will be notified of your scheduled examination date, time, and location after the posted filing deadline.
Training & Experience Rating (50%)
Based upon responses to the supplemental questionnaire, the applicant’s education, training and experience will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the eligible list.
Prior to the date of hire, applicants must undergo a fingerprint test by the Department of Justice, pass a medical examination, which may include a drug screening and possibly a psychological evaluation, sign a constitutional oath and submit proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to remain and work in the U.S. For some positions, applicants may also be required to submit proof of age, undergo a background investigation and/or be bonded.
All new permanent employees, with the exception of sworn law enforcement and those in management and confidential groups, shall be required to join the employee organization or pay an 'Agency Fee' as a condition of employment.
The eligible list(s) resulting from this recruitment may be certified as a substitute list for a substantially similar classification. For this purpose, a substantially similar classification is one at a lower level in the same classification (example: entry level vs. journey) and/or a similar classification (similar work performed, similar training and experience qualifications required).
