Vacancies are currently in Health and Human Services - Administration, and Facilities Management - Administration:
Placer County has an exceptional opportunity within the Administration Division of Health and Human Services (HHS). HHS Administration is comprised of 60 employees, assists in the construction and oversight of a $220 million department budget and provides centralized support in the areas of finance, payroll, accounts payable, contracts, compliance, and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). HHS Administration serves the following divisions: Adult Systems of Care, Children Systems of Care, Human Services, Public Health, Environmental Health and Animal Services. In addition to well-established leadership skills that inspire employee retention and development, the ideal candidate will have a strong fiscal background with experience in Behavioral Health, Social Services or Public Health funding streams, budgets, financial reporting and claiming methods.
The Department of Facilities Management, Administration Division is seeking to fill a new position. This position will provide the day-to-day supervision of the department’s Fiscal Team, which processes all fiscal tasks associated with the divisions of Capital Improvements, Real Estate Services, Building Maintenance, Museums, and Administration. This position will also be responsible for analyzing existing business processes and making innovative recommendations to streamline accounting and budgeting practices. This position necessitates strong collaboration, team work, and communication skills to interface with management, other county department fiscal contacts, external service providers (vendors) and other agencies.
The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill vacancies in other departments as they occur.
To plan, coordinate, organize, and supervise an assigned work unit(s) within a large, multi-unit division within departments that have agency-wide financial accounting and reporting responsibility; to assign, train, motivate, and evaluate the work of professional technical, and clerical staff; to design, modify, and organize assigned work processes and operational procedures to maximize assigned work unit’s efficiencies and effectiveness; to perform the most complex professional and technical functions as necessary; and to function as a proactive and positive member of the departmental team.
The Accountant, Supervising job classification incorporates full supervisory responsibilities including oversight for a work unit. This job class is distinguished from the Accountant, Senior classification by the fact that the majority of duties performed by the former are supervisory and management tasks. This job class is distinguished from the Accountant Auditor, Supervising classification in that the latter has demonstrated expertise and knowledge required to provide county-wide oversight of a specialized area(s) such as financial accounting and/or government auditing processes.
Receives general direction from assigned management staff. Exercises general supervision over assigned professional, technical, and clerical personnel.

Experience:
Two (2) years of progressively responsible advanced journey level professional experience performing duties similar to an Accountant, Senior with Placer County, one year of which must have been performing full supervisory functions in a similar professional environment.
Training:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting or a related field.Applicants receiving their degree outside the United States must submit proof of accreditation by a recognized evaluation agency.
Relevant, equivalent experience (performing the same or similar job requiring similar knowledge, skills, and abilities) may be substituted for the required education as determined by the Human Resources Department.
License or Certificate:
May need to possess a valid driver’s license as required by the position. Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required.

Based upon responses to the supplemental questionnaire, the applicant’s education, training and experience will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the eligible list.
Prior to the date of hire, applicants must undergo a fingerprint test by the Department of Justice, pass a medical examination (which may include a drug screening and possibly a psychological evaluation), sign a constitutional oath and submit proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to remain and work in the U.S. For some positions, applicants may also be required to submit proof of age, undergo a background investigation (which may include a voice stress analysis and/or a polygraph) and/or be bonded. Additionally, positions in law enforcement classifications, and those supporting law enforcement functions will be required to complete a conviction history questionnaire prior to or during the interview process. Applicants for positions with access to Medi-Cal billing software or who are licensed providers must clear the Federal Exclusion List, credentialing, and social security verification. Failure to clear these requirements may result in an employment offer being withdrawn.
