Job Overview

This position requires a strong understanding of the machines, must be reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards. This role ensures the interminable and efficient running of a smooth and efficient production workflow. In a fast-paced environment like production, this position is an integral part of the manufacturing process. Being a team player is essential since all tasks require close collaboration with co-workers. The goal is to ensure production procedures are carried out smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits.

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sets up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start and maintain production cycle efficiently; ensures output of machines meet high-quality standards
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed) as needed
  • Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines
  • Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
  • Test operation of machines periodically
  • Fix issues that occur during the shift
  • Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws; solve problems as detected
  • Maintain records of approved and defective units or final products; maintains activity logs
  • Adheres to strict health and safety guidelines as well as Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Company policies
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Understanding of industry standards and regulations in order to safely and efficiently operate machinery and tools properly
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of PPE gear)
  • Ability to analyze situations and find solutions; strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work and communicate well with others
  • Physical stamina and strength
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or/ability required.   • Must be atleast 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus
  • Aptitude for math, problem-solving, computers, and mechanics
  • Apprenticeship or specialization is an asset, but not necessary
  • 2+ years machine operator experience in a manufacturing environment recommended
  • Safety and OSHA training required

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups employees of organization. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
