Responsibilities

The CNC Punch Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the machine to produced sheet metal parts (nesting, single part processing).

Setting up / preparing order:

  • Provision of sheet metal blanks on loading cart by employee from sheet metal warehouse
  • Set up punching tools according to order requirements (tool list nesting job)
  • Carry out tool change

Execute job:

  • Load and start program according to part or nesting job number (SI/NCI)
  • Process monitoring
  • Removal of sheet metal blanks from machine table, if no automatic disposal by lift or small parts flap is possible
  • Removal of sheet metal blanks from unloading cart or good parts container, manually or with forklift
  • Transporting the orders/parts by the employee to the nearest transport station (push principle)
    • Confirmation of the order at the end of the order
  • Preparation of shift handover (e.g., parts organization, tools, nesting formats or individual blanks)
  • Stimulate measures for process optimization

Check:

  • Measuring the first part per order (external dimensions, hole pattern, visual inspection)
  • Informing the supervisor in case of rejects (facts -> post-production order)

Maintenance:

  • Carry out maintenance and cleaning work according to plan
  • Carry out minor repair and maintenance work within the specified scope; inform maintenance if necessary and pass on description of malfunction
  • Remedy process faults, e.g. tool breakage; replace ball rollers on machine table; replace wiper mount; replace V-sealing ring; etc.
  • Monitor repair and maintenance intervals (carried out by the maintenance technician)
  • Regrinding tools
  • Keep machine logbook / tool list
Qualifications
  • 2 yr. Technical Degree preferred (relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirements.)
  • 2 + years Punch Press experience desired.
  • CNC Machine Operation: 2 years (Preferred).
  • Demonstrated math and blueprint reading ability.
  • Ability to operate punch and brake presses by setting glides and making ram adjustments.
  • Ability to follow written instructions accurately.
  • Demonstrate above average mechanical aptitude.
  • Have proficient understanding of decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to convert between metric and US standard units of measure.
  • Demonstrated experience using various measuring devices, including but not limited to tape measures, height gauges, and calipers.
  • Experience operating the Trumpf machine is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced start-up environment.
  • Ability to work well with other people and demonstrate team player behavior.
  • Must possess and demonstrate good written and communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Local Candidates are preferred. No relocation will be provided.
