CNC Programmer


The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating graphically based Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programs to control the production of sheet metal machined parts according to system-guided specifications (ERP interface); creating programs via a programming system for CNC machines; providing technical guidance to employee.

Production coordination:

  • Coordination of the economic interaction of production orders, CNC programming, punching, punch bending (interlinked system)
  • Monitoring of the complete CNC production area, reacting immediately in the event of malfunctions and, if necessary, ensuring that the malfunctions are rectified with the help of the relevant specialist departments.
  • Monitoring and compliance with standardized material flows, logistics and manufacturing processes.
  • Actively participate in the optimization of manufacturing processes (coordination IE).
  • Compliance with work instructions.

CNC - Programming:

  • Transfer of checked geometry data from design, and automatic addition of machining.
  • Manual adjustment of machining in case of error message and problem parts, e.g., folding small parts for lift disposal.
  • Programming and editing of variants.
  • Determining which parts are produced with fixed programs.
  • Organization and data maintenance in the CNC area.
  • Active cooperation in the optimization of the CNC programs.


  • Checking of the automatically created nesting jobs if necessary manual intervention in case of unsatisfactory results.
  • Possibly manually start or modify nesting runs to still consider quick shots.

Provide technical guidance to staff:

  • Guide and instruct employees with less experience or qualifications.
  • Assign employees according to their qualifications.
  • Monitor work performance. Inspect work results.
  • Report process problems to IE.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Support employees in improving their work processes (KIM).

  • Two-year technical degree and 1-3 years CNC experience or 3-5 years’ experience in CNC programing, or equivalent training and/or related work experience.
  • Understanding of CAD/CAM programming and/or G-code programming language.
  • Auto CAD/Inventor capability, ability to read engineering prints and specifications.
  • Experience with programming for brake press and Trumpf machines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • CNC tool selection
  • Able to read blueprints and inspect parts.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced start-up environment.
  • Ability to effectively use tools such as the following: depth gages, bore gages, height gages, feeler gages, micrometers, calipers, deburring tools, die grinders, drill presses, overhead lifting equipment, etc.
  • Strong mechanical or technical aptitude with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Good Oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work in a smoke free environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced start-up environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
