Material Handler (S&R)
Job Summary: The Material Handler in the Shipping & Receiving Department supplies material to required machines, load and unloads supplies and keeps warehouse orderly and has all materials put up and located properly and is involved in daily and monthly safety audits of materials handling equipment and personnel.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Work, act, think, and converse in terms of improving quality and eliminating waste in his/her process.
- Stop any operation that is not producing product to customer expectations or its in violation of approved quality and safety standards.
- Responsible for all general inventory, warehousing, and Traffic programs.
- Responsible to initiate and implement systems to improve inventory control (FIFO).
- Coordinate inter-plant shipments, transfer raw materials, finished goods and packaging materials
- Must be able to work efficiently and seamlessly with other divisions within Indevco Group to drive improvements.
- Continuously improve the process as an individual and as team member.
- Responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operation of the machine is consistence with the policies and procedures which make up of Quality System.
Specific duties:
- Responsible for creating an environment of teamwork focused on producing quality products.
- Ensures machine Preventive Management is performed according to the schedule.
- Set the example of safe operation by following established safety guidelines and holds self and other accountable.
- Completes all required tracking forms (Inspections and Checklists).
- Responsible for efficient use of labor on a day to day basis.
- Initiates and supports improvement initiatives.
- Other duties as instructed by Shipping Manager and/or Customer Service & Logistics Manager.
- Performs inspections as per Quality Procedures and Safety Program.
- Keeps area clean and organized.
- Implementation of 5S activities and audit systems for compliance.
Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of computers.
- Ability to communicate and work well with others.
- FIFO inventory (determined at month end inventory).
- Meets safety targets and audits timelines.
- Meet all environmental compliance (Air Permits, Waste, Storm Water, Etc.)
- Basic forklift functions.
- Inventory control.
- Reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Physical Demand:
- No lifting in area.
