Lead-Wastewater Operator
Prestage Foods of SC is a family-owned turkey processing plant located in Camden, SC. Our mission is to produce quality food at a competitive price. We are looking for individuals who go the extra mile and will be a great addition to our team.
Education:
- GED (Min.); Min. C-level or higher certification (required)
- Valid driver’s license
Experience:
- Working knowledge of standard practices, terminology, and safety standards in wastewater operation or related field
General:
The wastewater lead operator actively directs the operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of wastewater facility. Under limited supervision, the lead performs routine tasks related to wastewater. The position reports to the maintenance supervisor w/ a primary work schedule of M-F, with flexibility to work early/ late shift, overtime, and weekends, as needed.
Specific Duties / Responsibilities:
- Performs as a working lead for all aspects of sampling, monitoring, and testing to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for wastewater process.
- Leads, directs, and schedules the wastewater work team and covers positions, as needed
- Oversees the performance and documentation of various tests to operate wastewater systems
- Ensures daily checks of wastewater process and pump stations are secured
- Conducts necessary weekend checks of wastewater plant on a rotating basis
- Assists with maintenance planning & execution for water equipment and machinery.
- Promotes a safe working environment and proactively shares any issues with manager and team
- Trains and shares knowledge in wastewater sampling, operations, and maintenance procedures and compliance policies
- Stays up-to-date on Federal, State, and local wastewater regulations and guidelines
- Willingly works towards certification advancement
- Works with minimal supervision and brings wastewater process concerns forward
- Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
Skills/Abilities/Attributes:
- Working-knowledge of wastewater processes and systems
- Well-versed understanding/ knowledge base of local, state, and federal wastewater regulations
- Self-directed, reliable with ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Positive leader w/ team-oriented approach and solid communication skills;
Physical Requirements:
- Lift / move up to 35 lbs.; occasionally 50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, stoop up to 10 hrs./shift
- Work safely in hot, cold, wet environment e.g., 35-40 / 100 degrees
