Potential employment opportunities exist for our new facility in Laurens:
Tube Mill Operator
The Mill Loader will be Responsible for offloading tube from Mill or Powder coat line tables into bundles and verify quality of the tube as you are bundling to prevent quality issues. Also, may operate banding gun to band bundles together with steel strips. Ensures quality and customer specs are met.
Essential Functions of Position:
Qualifications:
- Takes direction from Mill Manager
- Reviews Mill Schedule with Mill Manager
- Continual lifting and pushing throughout shift required 10-50 Lbs (team lifting required for over 50lbs)
- Selects steel coil from Inventory to suit schedule (If not staged)
- Checks coil tag against Inventory list: grade, heat number, coil number, width, gauge.
- Collects coil tags and records everything to turn in to Mill Operator at end of shift
- Stages coils for the shift near uncoiler as time permits, if needed
- Mounts coil on uncoiler
- Sets up tail end of working coil at shear welder
- Rotates uncoiler with new coil into position
- Feeds and welds head end of coil to working coil. Dresses weld. Paints underside of weld
- Feeds the weld into strip accumulator
- Alerts Cut Off Operator of approaching buttweld
- Assists Cut Off Operator as needed
- Alerts Mill Manager of any difficulties with machinery
- Previous forklift/crane experience with over-sized loads strongly preferred
- Tube mill manufacturing experience Highly beneficial
- Previous experience in production, manufacturing or other related fields
- Familiarity with manufacturing machinery and equipment
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Mathematical Skills: Must have good math skills to be able to add, subtract, multiply, use decimals and fractions.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, reason or find out causes of something to try to find a solution. Able to problem solve with ability to diagnose equipment and quality problems.
- Communication Skills: Able to communicate in English for written and verbal communication, including the ability to listen and speak effectively to understand and communicate the needs of customers and coworkers. Ability to read and interpret documents.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills to look up work orders and interact with programs to obtain key work order requirements.
- Previous experience with measuring devices (tape measures, micrometers, calipers etc.) preferred
- Must be prepared to work overtime and odd hours to accomplish the necessary tasks whenever an emergency that threatens production or safety arises.
Pre Requirements:
The following personal protective equipment and clothing may be required to be worn continuously by some/all job positions.
- Various types of eye protection (Safety glasses, goggles, etc.)
- Head protection such as hard hats or climbing helmets
- Fall arrest harness (as needed)
- Hearing protection (standard and/or custom ear plugs)
- Foot protection (Steel toed footwear that may include metatarsal protection)
- Respiratory protection (dust masks and/or respirators)
- Welding helmet (as needed)
- Welding attire
- Various types of face shields
Experience requirements: 1 year Experience using Forklift & Cranes with Over-sized Loads
